Right Relations Initiative

What are "right relations?"

What are "right relations?"

What are "right relations?"

Our Indigenous conservation work is rooted in restoring right relationships.  We do this in many diverse ways, advocating for and supporting environmental and climate justice, Rights of Nature, food and water sovereignty of Tribal Nations and Indigenous Peoples (TIP), and supporting practices, policies and laws that support TIP rights, Free, Prior and Informed Consent.

Let's chat.

What are "right relations?"

What are "right relations?"

For those interested in learning more about TIP stewardship, access rights, and Rights of Nature, let's chat.  Our intent is to ensure Spirit Relatives are protected in certification, land management, and legal processes to facilitate and support reciprocal and sustaining relationships centered on TIP practices and worldviews - that benefit all of us.

[We All Stand Together]

Hui Kū Like Kākou

LF is the fiscal sponsor of Hui  Kū  Like  Kākou (HKLK), a community group led by Kānaka ʻŌiwi with participants from many peoples, cultures, and faiths.  Together, HKLK & LF are exploring ways to dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery and will be sending a delegation to Aotearoa (New Zealand) in October 2026.

Goals of HKLK

Reclaim Kānaka ʻŌiwi identity

Provide kūpuna (elders) with healthy, traditional, local foods

Resist oppressive systems through nourishing the hearts and minds of all visitors to the Waiʻanae Moku of O'ahu through the practice of aloha ‘āina (loving the land).

What is the Doctrine of Discovery?

A series of 15th -century decrees from the Vatican which asserted that Christian European nations had the right to claim and seize lands inhabited by non-Christians and assert dominance over Indigenous Peoples - the justification for colonization around the world which perpetuates to this day.

Donate here to help us dismantle the doctrine
