Indigenous Climate Futures Initiative

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

The Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Project (PNW TCCP) is a hallmark communication network serving as a mechanism to exchange information on climate change priorities, policy, programs, grants and other opportunities for Tribal Nations and Indigenous Peoples (TIP) to engage in climate change issues.

PNW TCCP also hosts an online Guide which is a clearinghouse of information for TIP on funding opportunities, publications, trainings, and more.  This project advances climate information and resource sharing for Indigenous food sovereignty and gathering/harvesting rights, protection of native pollinator habitats and health, and Indigenous water security and sovereignty actions.

In addition to being the foundation of LF's Indigenous Climate Futures initiative, PNW TCP provides overlapping benefits to other initiatives as well.  Click on the link below to learn more about the PNW TCCP!

Cascadia Partner Forum

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

As a key participant on the Leadership Council of the Cascadia Partner Forum (CPF), LF supports and strategizes climate resilience in the transboundary region of the Medicine Line (U.S.-Canada border) on both sides of the Cascade Mountains.

LF’s work aims to center Indigenous leadership, sovereignty, and values in all aspects of transboundary, large-landscape climate resilience efforts to promote reconciliation and long-term success.  This includes the development and communication of media, webinars, and in-person events highlighting lessons-learned, capacity-building and training opportunities, co-management policies and agreements, and equitable leadership and decision-making in Cascadia’s land use, habitat conservation, and management.

This work touches upon several of LF’s initiatives but is grounded in climate action.  Click on the link below to connect with us about our advisory services!

Tribal Climate Camp

Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Project

Tribal Climate Camp

LF is honored to serve as the lead facilitator and a key planning team participant of Tribal Climate Camp (TCC), a 5-day in-person climate adaptation training exclusively designed for Tribal Nations and Indigenous Peoples (TIP).  At these trainings, delegations from TIP governments and inter-Tribal organizations (ITOs) come to network, collaborate, learn, and share about climate science, Indigenous Knowledges, and community resilience.

Every TIP Delegation leaves the training with an actionable climate plan, which varies depending upon the priorities, values, and needs of specific TIP communities.  A variety of action plans have been initiated, from community engagement and food/water security to greenhouse gas mitigation, energy sovereignty, and sustainable housing.

LF founder and Executive Director Amelia Marchand has participated in seven TCCs since 2016 and has been proud to present and/or facilitate five of those since 2022.  Click on the link below to connect with us about our facilitation and planning services!
